Thousands take to the streets to celebrate Hanoi's 1,000th birthday

Thousands of local people as well as visitors from other parts of Vietnam and the world took to the streets of Hanoi today to celebrate the city's 1,000 year anniversary.

The celebration kicked off today around Hoan Kiem Lake and will run for 10 days. It will end with a grand ceremony that includes a march and parade on October 10 (10/10/10).
