Danang seeks air links with Hai Phong, Can Tho

The Danang people’s committee decided Friday to urge the central government and Vietnam Airlines to introduce flights linking the central city with Can Tho and Hai Phong, an official said.
Huynh Minh Nhon, deputy general director of the city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said flights from Hai Phong will bring inbound tourists to Danang since international visitors to the northern city are strongly interested in exploring the central hub.
The other route will cater to the rising demand from the central and southwestern regions, he said.
Danang and Vietnam Airlines are also planning to begin direct flights to Japan by the end of the year, he added.
Danang is currently linked by two international flights: China Southern flies twice a week from Guangzhou and Silk Air, four times from Singapore.
Danang, Hai Phong, and Can Tho are all centrally-administered cities.
