Rach Mieu bridge last two middle spans linked


Nhan Dan - The last two middle spans of the Rach Mieu bridge linking the two southern provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre officially joined yesterday.
Former Prime Minister Phan Van Khai was among those present at the bridge last spans joining ceremony.
Rach Mieu bridge lies on National Highway 60, crossing the Tien river. It is the first suspension bridge designed and built by Vietnamese engineers and workers.
The 15 metre wide bridge has a total length, including approaches, of 8,331 metres, of which the main part with suspension is 1,878 metres long. It has a clearance of 37.5 metres for waterway traffic.
