Manila, Jakarta turn to Vietnam for rice, prices firm

HANOI/BANGKOK - The Philippines, the world's top rice importer, and Indonesia are looking to buy up to 2.2 million tons of rice from Vietnam, a step likely to support prices as supply tightens in Vietnam.
Rice -- the key staple food in Asia -- has seen little change in prices this year, unlike grains such as corn and wheat, which have rallied to multi-year highs on shortage of supply from the drought-hit Black Sea region.
