Hanoi calls for suggestions to beat the traffic

VietNamNet Bridge – In a bid to beat its traffic jams, Hanoi has called on its residents and scientists for their views.


Suggestions should be sent to the Hanoi Department of Transportation athttp://www.sogtvt.hanoi.gov.vn.
According to the Hanoi Transportation Department, the capital city has 18 crossroads which suffer from frequent traffic jams. It plans to upgrade and re-organize traffic at these points.
They are: Kim Lien tunnel, Pham Hung – Tran Duy Hung – Khuat Duy Tien, Cau Giay, Pham Hung – Me Tri, Pham Hung – Ton That Thuyet, Doi Can – Lieu Giai, Mai Dich overpass, Ba La, Tran Binh Trong – Tran Nhan Tong, Nguyen Thi Dinh – Le Van Luong, Xa Dan – Pham Ngoc Thach, Nga Tu So overpass, Truong Chinh – Ton That Tung, Hang Dau flower garden, Quang Trung, Le Duan, Xa Dan and Au Co – Nghi Tam – Yen Phu.
The department said that since early 2009 it has applied many measures to curb traffic, such as upgrading and expanding roads and blocking crossroads .
However, since students returned to schools after the summer holiday and during the year-end, traffic jams have resumed in many streets including Lang Ha, Le Van Luong, Tay Son, Ton Duc Thang, Thai Ha, Chua Boc and Nguyen Trai.
