Exhibition on socio-economic achievements opens

An exhibition on Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements opened at the Giang Vo Exhibition Centre in Hanoi on October 1.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said that the exhibition aims to introduce people across the country and international friends to Vietnam’s renewal, development and stability, and Hanoi’s 1,000 year old civilization and tradition of bravery, peace, development and modernity.

He expressed his belief that the event will promote people patriotism and national pride and consolidate the people’s trust in the Party and State renewal and development policy.

The exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will run until October 6 to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi. It includes 20 ministries, and 21 cities and provinces, as well as businesses from the State-run, non-State and foreign invested sectors.

Topics covered in the exhibition include achievements in industry, trade, international relations, agriculture and rural development, culture, sports, tourism, technology and environment, construction, transport, education and training, and social welfare, among many others. Hanoi’s history and 1,000th year old culture is also introduced as an attractive tourism destination and a city of peace which is developing the country’s political, cultural and economic centre.
