Five thousands people walk for civilized city campaign

More than 5,000 residents, including government workers, students and members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union took part in a walk in Ho Chi Minh City on October 2 to support the program titled “Days for civilized city”.

The event was organized by the Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, the city committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, city's Red Cross and Television.

The organization board gave 40 bicycles to sanitation workers, 10,000 bus tickets to Government employees and 60,000 environment-friendly bags to people.

Accordingly, four transient stations will be built along the Ho Chi Minh City-Cu Chi District route at a cost of VND400 million (US$20,000). 10 green, clean and beautiful works were carried out at the Ben Chuong Duong and Nguyen Thai Binh apartment buildings in district 1 on the same
day.

A program called “30 minutes for the green, clean and beautiful city” takes place at 1,900 quarters in all districts in the city on October 3.

Members of the youth union also planted 1,500 trees along Saigon River and in the Vietnam National University of Ho Chi Minh City, improve pollution in District 7’s Tan Phu Ward and Cong Ly Bridge in Phu Nhuan District as well as implement the movement titled “1,000 clean and safe lamp posts” in five central districts.
